Mission
NISEA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing equity and innovation in Science,
Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine (STEMM) by providing research opportunities,
mentorship, and access to higher education, workforce development, and STEMM career
pathways to talented historically underrepresented youth. Additionally, NISEA works to engage
and inspire our youth in STEMM careers by including research opportunities that are culturally
relevant and solve real-world problems that directly impact the communities of
underrepresented youth.
The initiative is unique in that it focuses on youth empowerment and building capacity through
partnerships and community impact. At NISEA, we believe in the transformative power of
STEMM to unlock doors of opportunity, particularly for those who have historically been
underrepresented and underserved. NISEA connects families, school districts, universities, and
businesses that are equity-driven. The program connects talented, historically underrepresented
middle and high school students, as well as undergraduate students, with exceptional experts in
the STEMM fields. These mentors are not only experts in their fields but are also deeply
committed to youth success, empowering them to utilize STEMM solutions to uplift underserved
communities and develop the confidence, knowledge, and critical skills they need for a
successful career in STEMM.
